Biological protection

Biological control of the number of pests

Biological control of pests in the protected area is due to the need of effective control of harmful insects, when, in the conditions of their resistance, it is not possible to achieve a satisfactory effect with the classic protection of chemical preparations. Namely, the basic reason for switching to biological pest control systems is the inability to effectively control conventional methods, although the market demands for healthy products are undoubtedly a significant factor of the final determination of the producer.

It is known that more pests, occurring in a protected area, have their natural enemies that normally spontaneously occur in nature, but usually much later during the season. In order to establish a natural balance between harmful and useful insects, which is the basis of biological protection, it is necessary to introduce useful organisms into protected areas on a timely and anticipated scale. Products of KOPPERT based on natural enemies of the main pests are completely environmentally friendly, and in their use there is no recession because they do not leave any residue. It is for this reason that vegetables and fruits in which production is used biological protection can rightly carry an ecological mark, because treatment with chemicals is very restrictive, including conventional fungicides, primarily so as not to endanger the predator population. When using biological protection in production it is desirable that objects have an insulation against the environment (anti-insect nets). If there are no such networks, harmful insects are constantly entering the facilities from the environment, and biological protection is often not effective enough. If you want to use biological protection in production in a protected area, it is best to decide before planting, and start protection when the level of harmful organisms in the facility is low.

The presence of certain pests is determined by visual inspection of traps and colorful adhesive plates. By placing these plates in combination with pheromones inside the building, it is possible to partially reduce the number of pests and, more importantly, to apply protection in time.

Horiver sticky plates

Sticky plates of different colors are necessary in the application of biological protection of plants. Yellow sticky plates are used for tracked pests such as your leaf, white butterfly, cycads, trips, while blue sticky plates are used for tracking and occurrence of the trips. Koppert produces yellow and blue plates of different sizes called HORIVER. On some models there are also marked labels for easy counting and review.

Rollertrap sticky tape

They are used to capture pests at places in an object where there is an extremely large number – on arches, ventilation openings and windows. They should be placed while the cultures are lower in growth, immediately after planting, or immediately before planting.
